BHADRA is a
City and a Municipality And Sub-Division in Hanumangarh District in the state
of Rajasthan,India . BHADRA in colloquial Marwari (a dialect of Hindi) means
"The City of Grace". This name comes from the river Raslana Vithrika
BHADRA which no longer exists. BHADRA is a Very Powerful Tehsil in Rajasthan.
Bhadra is the first and only city in India to offer full free public Wi-Fi.
Origin Of The Name »
BHADRA was founded by Bhadu Gotra Jats. Bhadus had ruled in
this area of Rajasthan. It is in west of Hisar .
As per Imperial Gazeteer of India v-8, p-22, Bhadra is also
a Jat clan. Dilip Singh Ahlawat has mentioned it as one of the ruling Jat clans
in Central Asia.
History »
BHADRA's history can be traced from the time of Mahabharata
where it was mentioned that BHADRA is in Kurupradesh. Jats after being defeated
by Mohmed Gazni in the year 1027 came to Jangalpradesh and rebuilt BHADRA.
According to Imperial Gazeteer of India v-8,p-22, the Bhadra
tehsil was formerly the estate of one of the principal Thakurs ; but he was in
constant rebellion against the Darbaris and was finally dispossessed in 1818.
More than 44 per cent of the population were Jats at that time.

According to James Tod as mentioned in his book "Annals
and Antiquities of Rajasthan (1829)" the
Jangladesh region was inhabited by Jats or Jits, who had for
ages been established in these arid
abodes. At every stage of invasion to India the invaders had
to encounter with the Jats of this region.
At what period the Jats established themselves in the Indian
desert is not known. By the 4th century
they had spread upto Punjab in India.
Nearly the whole of the territory forming the boundaries of
Bikaner was possessed by the six Jat Cantons namely -
1. Poonia, 2, Godara , 3. Saran 4. Asiagh 5. Beniwal 6.
Johiya, or Jowey Each canton bore the name of the community, and was subdivided
into districts. Number of villages in each canton and Districts included in
them were as under

Main languages are Hindi, Rajasthani but Bagri, a dialect of
Rajasthani language, is spoken by a majority of the population. A little
influence of Haryanvi language can also be noticed here because of close
proximity of this town to Haryana.

Gogamedi(गोगामेड़ी) is
a village of religious importance in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan
(India), 350 km from Jaipur. A grand fair is held at Gogamedi in August in
memory of Gogaji (a Chauhan Rajput from Dadrewa village in Churu district)
which runs for one month from the Poornima of Sharvan to the Poornima of
Bhadrapad every year. Gogamedi is accessible on NH 65 from Chandigarh; go
straight to Hisar (Haryana) (230 km) and from Hisar take the road to Bhadra (60
km) and from Bhadra Gogamedi lies around 20 km on the way to Nohar. From Delhi
take the NH10 to Hisar (165 km) and from Hisar take the road to Bhadra.
